Alleluia & Emmanuel

Alleluia! Thanks be to my brother David for his initiative of creating his own blog for quite sometime. Now I start to have my own blog titled "Daily Communion With God"! My plan is simply writing down what I learn from the Bible, communicating with my family members, friends like James Mollette, my Latin teacher, a dear pastor who has been guiding me not only in Hebrew, Greek and now Latin, but also in spiritual growth. Edmund Lo S. H. is my very good brother in Christ, who taught me Greek & Hebrew while James was away for summer holiday. He too inspired my understanding of God and Jesus Christ in particular!
Emmanuel is the word I want to conclude, meaning God has been with us (James, Edmund & I) in our study of the Holy Bible!

Mox nox, in rem - 'Soon night fall, To the Business'; colloquially "Let's get the show on the road" or really "Let's get on with it."
Blog of Matthew Brown who discusses 3 aspects of 'stuff':
1. Productivity - how we get important stuff done, without stress;
2. Creativity - how we put new stuff out there, without fear;
3. Authenticity - how we ensure that the stuff that we make, use and enjoy fits with our humanity
Let me get on with the study of Latin as a Catholic & a Christian, to understand the Latin Bible.

  1. I have started reading Luke,guided by A Daily Study Guide to the Entire Bible - This Morning with God; what I have learned are as follows:
    1. "Elizabeth was barren" (v.1:7) - comment - as the dawn of salvation draws near, however, God will change this elderly couple (Zechariah & Elizabeth)'s grief into great joy and grant them the one desire time had rendered impossible. - Reflection - God makes impossible possible for a good cause! v.1:37 For nothing will be impossible with God.

  2. Today's reflections:
    1. Human value - being human is the greatest value that God wants us to treasure & protect - St. Teresa set a beautiful example by taking care of the helpless people in Calcutta despite hazards
    2. Jesus dying on the Cross - the meaning of " ...why have you forsaken me?" - the tremendous fear of separation from God & yet realizing that He must bear the suffering of all mankind by himself alone before salvation is fulfilled!

  3. My dear classmate, Dr. Leung Sing Fai passed away peacefully on 20 January, 2017. He is left with his dear wife and dear mother. I feel very sad as he has physically left us but his spirit of love and care for us, for mankind, especially for the young generation of Hong Kong linger on for ever. S.F., I deeply believe that your soul is resting in peace! We love you always!

  4. Philippians 1: 9 - 11
    Paul's prayer: that all Philippians Christians may grow in spiritual knowledge & insight, & make use of the knowledge & insight for the good of others, without self hidden motive, that they become pure & blameless, & filled with the fruit of righteousness through Jesus Christ to the glory & praise of God.

  7. Latin and Anglican translation
    Vulgata Book of Common Prayer
    Magnificat anima mea Dominum;
    Et exsultavit spiritus meus in Deo salutari meo,
    Quia respexit humilitatem ancillae suae; ecce enim ex hoc beatam me dicent omnes generationes.
    Quia fecit mihi magna qui potens est, et sanctum nomen ejus,
    Et misericordia ejus a progenie in progenies timentibus eum.
    Fecit potentiam in brachio suo;
    Dispersit superbos mente cordis sui.
    Deposuit potentes de sede, et exaltavit humiles.
    Esurientes implevit bonis, et divites dimisit inanes.
    Suscepit Israel, puerum suum, recordatus misericordiae suae,
    Sicut locutus est ad patres nostros, Abraham et semini ejus in saecula.
    Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto,: sicut erat in principio,
    Et nunc, et semper: et in Saecula saeculorum. Amen.[5]
    My soul doth magnify the Lord.
    And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
    For he hath regarded : the lowliness of his handmaiden: For behold, from henceforth : all generations shall call me blessed.
    For he that is mighty hath magnified me: and holy is his Name.
    And his mercy is on them that fear him: throughout all generations.
    He hath shewed strength with his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
    He hath put down the mighty from their seat: and hath exalted the humble and meek.
    He hath filled the hungry with good things: and the rich he hath sent empty away.
    He remembering his mercy hath holpen his servant Israel :
    As he promised to our forefathers, Abraham and his seed for ever.
    Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;
    As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen.
